Life, for many, is a paradoxical journey - a beautiful yet ruthless experience, painted in the hues of our personal histories by our five senses. It’s a cycle of giving and taking, akin to a heavenly paradise teeming with gracious angels and a treacherous hell filled with traitorous devils. However, we often overlook the fact that life offers nothing more than temporary pleasures and pains. None of what we experience will matter after death. Living according to our whims and desires, as if there’s no tomorrow and no fear of death, might seem appealing. But isn’t that a massive gamble with our afterlife?
Once, while perusing an encyclopedia in a library, I stumbled upon the topic of “death”. I had expected it to be covered in less than three paragraphs. To my surprise, over twenty pages were dedicated solely to describing death - theories, philosophies, and ideas about what death could be and how different cultures perceive it. One common thread among all these perspectives was the presumption of an afterlife - be it oblivion, judgment day or reincarnation.
So why does the afterlife matter? To answer that, we need to acknowledge the temporariness of life and the inevitability of death. Death is coming, and life is ending sooner than we think. Given this fact, wouldn’t the truthful ones want to inquire and search for what to expect? It’s essential to engage our intellect to comprehend the logical, evidential, and reasonable arguments about life, death, and the afterlife. We must set aside our emotional senses to open our eyes to new light.
In conclusion, life is a fleeting journey, a paradox of beautiful and ruthless experiences that ultimately hold no weight after death. The inevitability of death prompts us to contemplate the possibility of an afterlife. As we navigate through various theories and philosophies about life and death, it's crucial to engage our intellect and not be swayed by our emotional senses. This exploration opens our eyes to new perspectives and enlightens us about the transient nature of life and the eternal mystery of what lies beyond.
